India’s Sumit Nagal, Scotland’s Andy Murray are among 7 Tennis players who have been awarded with a wild card entry to the 2021 Australia Open.

- Australian Open 2021 has also awarded wild card entry to Andy Murray
- Five other players have been awarded wild card entries to the Grand Slam
India’s Sumit Nagal, ranked 136 by ATP in Men’s singles category, has been named as a wild card entry to the 2021 Australian Open. The start of the season-opening Grand Slam has been pushed by 3 weeks, from January, to February 8.
“I am very thankful to all the people who put effort in helping me get a wild card for the 2021 Australian Open. Thanks to Tennis Australia for all their effort to make this slam possible in this circumstances,” Nagal wrote on his Twitter.
Seven players have been named in the wild card entry list: Christopher O’Connell (AUS), Marc Polmans (AUS), Alex Bolt (AUS), Thanasi Kokkinakis (AUS), Aleksandar Vukic (AUS), Andy Murray (GBR), Sumit Nagal (IND).
Besides Nagal, Great Britain’s former world No. 1 Andy Murray has also been awarded with a wild card entry to the Australian Open. Tournament director Craig Tiley, on Sunday, welcomed 5-time runner up of Australian Open, Murray, back to Melbourne after 2 years.
“We welcome Andy back to Melbourne with open arms. His retirement was an emotional moment and seeing him come back, having undergone major surgery and built himself back up to get on to the tour again, will be a highlight of AO 2021,” Tiley said.
