India pacer Jasprit Bumrah on Tuesday added another feather to his cap as he equaled spin legend Anil Kumble to become the joint leading wicket-taker for India in Boxing Day Tests at MCG. He achieved the feat on Day 4 of the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Bumrah dismissed Pat Cummins for 22 to take his 15th Test wicket at the iconic venue during the morning session on Day 4. With the dismissal, Bumrah equaled Anil Kumble’s record for the most wickets by an Indian bowler at the iconic venue.
Notably, Bumrah had picked up 9 wickets in India’s historic series win in 2018-19 and has claimed 6 so far in the ongoing 2nd Test vs Australia. Bumrah had castled Steve Smith around his legs for eight on Monday shortly after the tea break.
Notably, Kumble, Kapil Dev, and B Chandrasekhar have taken two five-wicket hauls at MCG while Bumrah has taken one fifer. Bumrah has also accounted for the best bowling figures in an innings (6/33).
Earlier, Australia resumed its second innings on Tuesday at 133/6. Mohammed Siraj got rid of the dangerous Cameron Green for 45 after Bumrah dismissed Cummins with a bouncer as India struck with the second new ball on Day 4.
