If there were an award for the best Tiktoker of the decade from the sporting fraternity, it will certainly go to David Warner. And the Australia star is not holding back from acknowledging it.
What if there were an International Cricket Council award for the Best Male Tiktoker? Well, David Warner was the winner of such an award conceptualised by the meme nation. Warner shared the meme on social media but he thought he would share the award with India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
“Thanks everyone for your support. @yuzi_chahal23 I thought we would be joint winners,” Warner wrote on social media sharing the post.
The India leg-spinner responded, saying: “No sir, you’re the best.”
David Warner became a social media star as his clips on short-video platform TikTok went viral. During the Covid-19 enforced lockdown, Warner was active on social media, wooing his Indian fans with TikTok videos of popular Indian film songs. Warner’s imitation of Tollywood superhit song, Butta Bomma was among his most popular videos.
Even when the ICC Awards were announced on Monday, Warner posted a video congratulating Virat Kohli of the Cricketer of the Decade Award in his inimitable style.
David Warner was named in both the Test and ODI teams of the Decade by the ICC. The Australia opener has grown into one of the most dangerous big-hitters of the sport with remarkable consistency across all three formats.
Warner missed the first 2 Tests of the ongoing series against India and Australia have felt the absence of their star opener. However, Warner was named in the squad for the New Year’s Test, starting January 7 as he is making good progress in recovery from a groin strain.
