Sydney Test: How is that for josh? BCCI says on video of charged-up Indian players training hard at MCG

Indian cricket team players participated in an intense training session at the Melbourne Cricket Floor on Saturday, just a week ahead of the start of the third Test against Australia in Sydney.

Team India are using high on confidence after bouncing back within the series within the Boxing Day Test, after the devastation at Adelaide within the Pink-ball Test final month.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video of the players doing fielding drills on the MCG.

“New Year. Renewed Energy. How is that for josh?,” the BCCI captioned the post. The players from both sides are leaving for Sydney on January 4, three days before the third Test.

The New-Year Test will mark the return of Rohit Sharma, who missed the primary two matches due to a hamstring injury that he had suffered during IPL 2020 within the UAE. Rohit was named the vice-captain of the Indian Test aspect on January 1.

He was seen batting within the nets without any signs of discomfort on Friday, a video of which was also posted by the BCCI.

“The wait is over! The Hitman @ImRo45 show is about to unfold,” BCCI posted.

India might also need to find a alternative for Umesh Yadav, who suffered a calf injury after bowling just 3.Three overs in Australia’s second innings in Melbourne.

Umesh claimed the wicket of Australian opener Joe Burns on Day Three before leaving the field, after delivering just 13 balls. Yadav, 33, was taken to the hospital for scans after his spell was cut short because of pain in his calf.

Umesh Yadav performed both the Test matches on the tour and picked 4 wickets whereas bowling 39.Four overs.

Fast bowler Shardul Thakur is the frontrunner to replace Umesh within the playing XI, although India added T Natarajan to their squad on Friday as his official alternative.

Natarajan was added as Navdeep Saini’s cover within the ODIs, injured spinner Varun Chakravarthy’s alternative within the T20Is and now Umesh’s injury has turned into a blessing in disguise for the left-arm quick. Natarajan can now make his debut in all the three formats throughout the same tour.
